This information has been provided by the Hanger Hill Police Safer Neighbourhood Ward Team

The Safer Neighbourhoods programme attaches a small team of police and community support areas to a local area at local authority ward level - in our case, the Hanger Hill team. At the time of writing (June 2007) this included a police sergeant, two constables and six Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).

Their role is to work with the community and local authorities to reduce crime and disorder and deal with the local issues that affect the quality of life.

"For the first time the Met is able to dedicate its officers to providing local solutions to local problems. The public have told us they want Police to tackle the things that make them feel unsafe; anti-social activities such as graffiti, abandoned cars, minor criminal damage and nuisance neighbours. Your new team will be doing this and providing the reassurance the public needs to go about their day-to-day business in safety and without fear." -- Sir Ian Blair QPM, Metropolitan Police Commissioner

Members of the Hanger Hill team are as follows:

Police Sergeant 36XB Bill HERMITAGE (replaced from July by Police Sergeant 46XB Tahir DIN)
Police Constable 910XB David TRAYNOR
Police Constable 298XB Alex BLINSTON
PCSO 7168XB Ian MUXLOW
PCSO 7179XB Terry SWEETMAN
PCSO 7192XB Carla HUTCHINSON
PCSO 7196XB Fern ELLIS
PCSO 7236XB Katie LOBLE
PCSO 7237XB Fahad AHMED

The team is not a substitute for the 999 emergency service, which should be contacted if immediate Police, Fire or Ambulance assistance is needed. Team members can often be seen in and around the Estate and welcome talking to residents directly. They can also be contacted on telephone numbers 0208-721-2947 and 07879-694830 or via e-mail at HangerHill.SNT@met.police.uk
