Arts and Leisure
Association members have been invited to support an initiative to establish an Arts and Leisure centre in the Ealing Town Hall (which is now largely surplus to Council requirements). The group is also looking for a volunteer to be responsible for grant applications and would like to hear from anyone who would like to establish a group or activity in the Town Hall now or later. Further details can be downloaded here. October 30th 2009

URGENT: Houses Volunteer Subscription Collectors needed
Can anyone spare a little time to help collect Houses Residents Association annual subscriptions? The Estate is managed entirely by volunteers and your £30 annual subscription is an extremely modest charge to pay for maintenance of all the service roads and communal gardens as well as projects such as the installation of service gates. If you can spare the time to help collect subscriptions, please contact Victor Jundi at 187 Princes Gardens or talk to him at the AGM. It only takes a few hours a year and is a good chance not only to give something back to the Estate, but also to get to know your neighbours!

Safer Neighbourhoods scheme
The Safer Neighbourhoods programme places a small team of police and community support officers at local authority ward level to reduce crime and nuisance, and bring policing closer to the community. Our local team, covering Hanger Hill ward, is holding a series of drop-in surgeries where residents can come and discuss local issues with a member of the team. Each session is held from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Ashbourne Parade, Hanger Lane, W5 3QS. The next few dates are Thursday 14 May, Wednesday 17 June and Monday 20 July. Click here for further information about the scheme, including a link to the Safer Neighbourhoods website which has a full list of surgery dates to the end of 2009. April 14th 2009

Ward forum
The Hanger Hill Ward Forum met on October 13. Councillors gave an update on current issues. Reports were made on Safer Neighbourhoods, Envirocrime and Streetwatchers. The Ward Budget was tabled. The Forum, which is attended by all our local councillors, is part of a recent initiative to improve communications between communities and local government. Minutes and other information are available on the Ealing Council website by clicking here. November 2nd 2009

Conservation Area - new Management Plan approved
An updated Area Management Plan for the Hanger Hill Conservation Area was approved by Ealing Council Planning Committee on March 11, 2009. This supports an earlier Area Appraisal setting out the background to the Estate's designation as a conservation area. Together, the two documents which can be downloaded from here, set the framework for preserving and enhancing the Estate. For more information, click through to the Conservation page via the link on the left. March 21st, 2009

Service road gates
Keys can be ordered from the estate office at Japan Services 2 Queens Drive, near West Acton station. No parking signs have been erected at each gate.  Residents should please note that parking is not permitted on any part of the service roads, in order to ensure access for emergency vehicles. For full details and updates, click the navigation link on the left. November 2nd 2009

Waste disposal
Ealing Council provides a weekly waste collection and recylcing service for all types of waste.  If you live in a house, please leave rubbish bags and recycling boxes in your front garden, not on the pavement. Information on collection days, including special arrangements for weeks with bank holidays, can be found on the Ealing Council website. November 2nd 2009

Oak Processionary Moth
Ealing Council has inspected all the oak trees on residents association land and says it is confident that all cases of Oak Processionary Moth have been identified and treated. An infestation was first reported earlier this year in the Park Royal area. Oak Processionary Moth has come to the UK from the European mainland. Touching the caterpillars, or even walking under an affected tree, can cause weals, rashes and other allergic reactions. If you have oaks in your garden and are worried they may be affected, you should contact Ealing's Tree Services team on 020 8825 6572 or Neil Manning, Acting Tree Section Manager, on 020 8825 6685.
